Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?
We will be resuming our Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner in January. Would you like to meet new people from our church family for dinner and conversation? If you haven’t participated in the past, you are encouraged to join in. Random groups of no more than 8 people will meet for a potluck dinner on the 3rd Saturday of each month. The host will provide the main dish and guests will bring the side dishes and dessert. About a week before the dinner date, you’ll get a postcard giving you the address where you’ll be going for dinner and what you should bring along (salad, vegetable or dessert).
To join the fun, sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board outside the church office. If you’d like to host, but need a smaller group of 6 rather than 8, just let me know when you sign up. Please mark January 19th, 6:30 p.m. on your calendar!

Quiet Books for Worship
Thanks to Circle 2 Emanuel Lutheran Church has a number of cloth quiet books for pre-schoolers to use during worship services. They are wonderful, handcrafted gifts for Emanual and you are encouraged to make use of these for your young children, but please remember to leave them at the Church.
Thanksgiving Dinner
Will you be spending Thanksgiving Day alone? Is it a year when family and friends will be in different locaations?
Emanuel's Stephen Ministry group will be hosting the Fourth Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner on November 22nd from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall, and you are invited to join us!
Just call the Church office to leave your name and the number attending. Members of the community receiving a special invitation to dinner will be students from HCC here alone over the holiday, residents of Washington Heights, Mission Place, New Beginnings, those at the Salvation Army, Soup Kitchen and First Call for Help.
Many members have asked how they can help and we welcome your assistance. We will need pies, relishes, desserts and many helpers. Sign-up sheets will be posted in late October.
Prayerfully consider the ways you can assist and say "THANKS BE TO GOD" this Thanksgiving Season.
